Carrot ginger puree

Carrot & ginger puree

+4 months

Carrots are a great vegetable for babies. The sweetness makes it very suitable to serve as a familiar flavour to fall back on, while introducing new ingredients, such as ginger. Ginger helps soothe stomach cramps. This makes it a great addition for babies whose digestive systems are still getting used to all these new foods.

Ingredients for 1 portion

  • 1 carrot

  • 0.25 tsp grated ginger

  • 1 tsp olive oil

Preparation

  1. Peel the carrots and steam or cook in boiling water. Make sure they are well cooked and nice and soft. Drain them but save the cooking liquid.

  2. Peel the ginger and grate it very finely.

  3. With your fork or a blender, turn it into a soft puree and make sure there are no lumps. You can add some cooking liquid to make it less thick. Look for the consistency of marmalade. Finish with the olive oil.

Also joining the table?

You can choose to steam the carrots until they're just not completely cooked and then caramelise them quickly in a pan with a bit of honey and grated ginger.
