Can my baby eat Wheat

From +4 months

Common allergen:

Wheat

Is wheat healthy for children?

Wheat will offer plenty of energy to your growing child because of the carbohydrates it contains. It also contains fiber, which is good for your baby's gut and digestion and is a source of protein, in the form of gluten. If you serve wheat in moderation and combine it with lots of fresh vegetables and sources or protein, it definitely deserves its place in your and your baby's diet. Try to go for whole wheat flour instead of white flour, since this contains much more minerals and vitamins.

How to serve wheat products

The easiest way to introduce wheat is in the form of baby cereal. You can make a porridge or add it to your vegetable puree, starting with small quantities. You can also serve small portions of pasta, couscous or other wheat products. When your baby is a bit older (between 6 and 8 months) you can start introducing bread.
