Can my baby eat Potato

From +4 months

Are potatoes healthy for children?

Potatoes are a great food to give to your baby. Their consistency makes them easy to mash and despite common beliefs, they're actually quite healthy! They are packed with phytonutrients, which promote health. They contain a lot of potassium and fiber. They're low in calories but have a high glycemic index and glycemic load. This means you shouldn't eat them in huge quantities, in order to avoid weight gain. Rule of thumb, 1/3 potatoes for 2/3 of veggies.

How to serve potatoes

Potatoes are incredibly versatile. You can mash them, roast them, use them to make small pancakes and the list goes on. Mashed potatoes are the best option for young babies. You can switch to a chunky mash at around 9 months and after the first birthday you can serve them roasted or as oven baked fries, let your creativity run wild!
