Can my baby eat Onion

From +6 months

Is onion healthy for children?

Onions come in different shapes and colors, but all varieties are actually very healthy. They contain vitamins B6 and B9, which are essential for cell growth and the formation of blood cells. Onions are also a source of vitamin C, so it's a good idea to serve onion with iron rich vegetables, since the vitamin C increases the iron intake.

How to serve onion

For the first years, serve the onion cooked, incorporated into stews, sauces or just as a finger food, making sure it's well cooked. At around 18 months you can also start using small amounts of raw onion, for example in salads.
