Can my baby eat Leek

From +4 months

Are leeks healthy for children?

Leeks are part of the onion family and in fact they look like a big spring onion but they taste a bit sweeter. They're low in calories but contain a high amount of fiber, vitamins (mainly A, C and K) and minerals (mainly magnesium), which makes them definitely a healthy food to give to your baby.

How to serve leeks

When you prepare leeks for your baby, make sure to wash them very thoroughly after chopping them (since there is usually quite a bit of sand between the leaves). The texture of leeks is quite tough so either blend them once cooked or cook them until really soft and serve them as finger food once your baby is old enough to grab smaller pieces (usually around the age of 10 months).
