Can my baby eat Couscous

From +4 months

Common allergen:

Wheat

Is couscous healthy for children?

Couscous is a healthy addition to your baby's diet when it's served in moderation. It's considered a common allergen since it's made out of wheat so if you're not sure whether your baby's allergic or not, start with small quantities and work your way up. Couscous will offer plenty of energy to your growing child because of the carbohydrates it contains. It also contains fiber, which is good for your baby's gut and digestion and it is a source of protein, in the form of gluten. If you serve couscous in moderation and combine it with lots of fresh vegetables and protein, it definitely deserves its place in your and your baby's diet.

How to serve couscous

Couscous can be served as is from the start of solids. Make sure it's cooked through and serve it with vegetables and meat or fish or make a fresh and herby couscous salad.
