Poached pear with five spice
The combination of Chinese five spice and pear works very well. We add some honey to sweeten it slightly but the spice will still shine through and expand your little one's palate.
Ingredients for 1 portion
Preparation
Peel the pears, cut them in half and remove the core.
In a saucepan, heat up enough water for the pear to be submerged. Once it's simmering, you can add the pear and cook it for about 5 to 10 minutes. Depending on the size and ripeness of the pear this should be enough for the pear halves to be soft but still holding their shape.
Save about 3 tablespoons of the cooking liquid and stir through the five spice and honey.
Once the pear is cooked, take it out of the pan and let it cool down. Drizzle over the syrup you just made.
